KILLER FORNIA!!!

So far..... amazing . Just got back from a fat ass show at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood , and it was SUCH A BLAST! Saw some old friends , new fans and kicked as much ass as my big , flat feet would allow . So cool , what a great room . AND OH MY GAD THE FRIGGIN' OOHLAS WERE AMAZING . Best pop band around . Shut your mouth . We're headed to SF in the morning ... one more quickie gig and then back to PDX . We are at the Wonder Ballroom on Sat. 3/31 , then James and I are off to Canada . YAY! And it looks like we are headed to New Zealand and Australia in early June ...plus there is word of more canada and some Iceland this Summer . Long time ,

...no blog . I have been super busy (again) but it's been great ! I spent a lovely week in L.A. at Paul's house (Paul of the House Band ) finishing all the vocals on the first five songs . It was a lot of singing , to the point where I was completely sick of my own voice . What a great work environment , though ! I ate too much , slept like a cat , went on hikes through Runyan Canyon with Paul's incredibly hot wife , Michelle .... It was a very productive time , but it felt kinda like vacation . I also got to see my favorite mansionmates ! There was a lovely dinner party at our good friend (and on-camera vocal coach ) Lis Lewis and her honey , David . Toby , Dilana , Magni and Lukas , plus my good friend and publicist extraordinaire , Mary Beth , were all in attendance . What a great time we had ! Everyone looked great and are kicking much ass in there respective careers . It was so good to see everyone ... it made me remember how much I love those guys . So... back to the five songs ... I will release them along with one or two others and call it "Ladylike , Side One" . It is due out May 1st in digital and physical form . I'm really excited about the songs ! I can't wait for you guys to hear them ! The Balls and I will be traveling and playing a bunch this Spring and Summer , so an official release party has not been discussed yet ..... though I would expect SEVERAL parties if I were you guys . YAY!!! Parties and Balls! The other "half" of the album will get tracked , mixed and unleashed when I can sit still long enough to get anything in the can . The tour(s) : We are headed to CA. this week to see some old friends and rock some familiar stages , as most of you know (check the calendar). Unfortunately , Sac is NOT on the schedule this trip , but we are shooting for May to roll back through the southland , so I'll work on getting to Sac for that trip . This just in : James and I will be opening for Gilby in Ontario Province , Canada in early April for 6 or 7 shows , once we have all the details I'll throw it up on the Calendar ...so stay tuned. Same goes for Australia and New Zealand ... it looks as though we're heading there in early June . Q: "What do you wanna be when you grow up ?" A: "Famous" . Enough with the slow-mo train wreck , Roman colosseum type entertainment . Anna Nicole was such a hideous example of humanity ... a stunted , stupid , wasted woman with a massive rack and a famously generous gash she shared with anyone with influence or a fat engraved moneyclip . (Pardon the language in my tirade ... I'm pissed ). We collectively reward these fuck-ups with fame , MOREOVER we collectively believe that fame IS a reward in and of itself . Not the bi-product of working hard with a modicum of talent . Little girls everywhere who lip synched to "Oops I did it again" dream of being little stars , but many grow up to makeout with their barely legal girlfriends for the Girls Gone Wild crew ... just to be on tv . Ooh ! Or maybe the packaging ?! ... maybe they'll get discovered !? .. ummm ...like , I dunneauoo ...whateverrr . Columbine : those two twisted bastards were on magazine and newspaper covers everywhere you looked ....then subsequently , a dozen more kids shoot up or threaten to shoot up their schools ... seeking and getting attention...FAME . Killing is rewarded with infamy .. importance....immortality . Same goes for killing one self, I guess . As I began this rant ... (again , sorry for the rage and bad grammar .. ) Anna Nicole was a tabloid punchline . A talentless swollen hooker with a heart sweet enough to trust the sucking remoras oozing around her . These great "friends" who would rather see her humiliate herself repeatedly and die , then put her in a headlock and get her some fucking help . They should have their arms and legs cut off and their twitching torsos fed to rats . Now we're all popping popcorn and settling in to watch this M is for Mouseclub washed up little not a girl/ not yet a woman , melt down and self destruct . We're almost atwitter at the prospect of her offing herself. I , for one , am utterly disgusted with the whole horrible mess of it ... Let's be real ...I'm guilty of it as well . When it comes to celebratty bitches being dragged through media mud ... I'm not that innocent . But it stops here , I'm not reading or watching anymore about it . OOHLAS!!!

Hey everyone ! I hear that there was a rumor The Balls were supposed to open the RSSN show in Everett last night...sorry if you all were misled .. if you went , I'm sure you still caught a great show from my friends . The Balls will be up in Seattle at the High Dive next Saturday 2/24 .BUT...If you want something fun to do tonight and you're in the Seattle area , read on ....All morning I've been making coffee and toasting blueberry muffins for our house guests THE OOHLAS , who are gearing up to head north for their show tonight (Monday Feb.19) at El Corazon , formerly Graceland , formerly Off Ramp . The show starts at 8PM and you should definitely catch them ! They are one of our favorite bands as well as some of my favorite peeps on the planet . STROKEJOB BABY!

Oh boy oh boy .... I think I can finally see straight to post about our "secret" gig at Dante's last Friday . What a blast ... but MAN! was I stretched to my limit!! Magni and Dilana came to town early so I took them around Portland a bit , got them on some radio and TV bits , (somewhere in the boards you can hear/see them)and generally caught up with them . I love those guys ... it was so cool to have them up here . Then came show day (Friday) and I was pumped! Pooped but pumped . Thanks to everyone who came out ! Daydream and Mamabean made long treks to get here , Stinkbug came bearing remarkable gifts ,I hope they all had a blast ... I only got to see them (and everyone ) briefly , but we managed to snap a few pics . Mike D opened the set and tore out his heart with thee loyal bastards ... I love him so . What a supreme gentleman . Then the mighty mighty Kleveland kicked holes in the stage and then filled them up with RAWK . They were recently called the most hated band in Portland .... I think , maybe the author of that bit meant: "Mmmmmmeow- meow meow meow ! " I say : Stef and her band kick so much ass that your butt cheeks will swell up around your head , thus helping you to SHUT YOUR FACE. THE BALLS ROLL ON STAGE . What a great feeling to be back on the Dantes stage with all our old fans , a lot of new fans and some of my friends from RSSN in the packed house . The Panic Channel , Toby and Juke Kartel , D and Mags were there singing along and partying . What a night ! Davey and I didn't get to bed until around 6AM . I am almost caught up on my beauty sleep ... I'm still a wee bit ugly . But I'm still grinning at all the awesome moments during the last few days . SIDE NOTE: I have overheard some snarky comments about Dilana getting on stage with me during the encore . First of all , IT WAS NOT HER IDEA .... our friend Pasha (photographer) dragged her out of her seat and made her do it , thinking it was a good idea . Secondly:I love Dilana and thought she handled it amazingly well . She felt really weird about it afterwards , as , normally , it is a big no-no to get on someone's stage unannounced...but , again , it was not Dilana's idea , and Pasha should know better .... THAT BEING SAID ... Dilana is an awesome performer,singer and above all , she is my friend . I thought she was great doing spontaneous harmonies with me with no prep or rehearsal whatsoever , I am honored I got a chance to sing with her. So , Haters , SHUT YOUR SNARKING HOLES ...that little chick rules. Her next single "Holiday" drops on Feb. 20th on Itunes and her MySpace (dilanarox)BTW . I now must drag my weary ass to a photoshoot to get primped and spackled with makeup for a print ad . I feel like the punchline to that old sexist joke: Q,Why do women wear makeup and perfume ? Home again, for now .

I am only now starting to feel normal since I drove 13 straight hours like a cracked out astronaut. (Only I stopped to pee and stuff .... ) So good to be in my beloved Portland , but there is no time to rest ... so much to do !! This week , my old friends from this past Summer are rolling into town ... Rock Star Super Nova will be here as well ... if you're going to the Memorial Colosseum to cheer on my buddies ( Dilana , Magni , Toby ,Lucas , Dave Navarro , T. Lee , and Gilby... ) I will probably be there for a bit , it is unlikely that I'll get on stage , but I gots to support my friends , I truly love those guys ... I'm not just talkin'a strokejob ... but genuine affection . We're gearing up for our Spring Break Cal-eye-fornia trip . There's a chance we could hit Sacramento on the way back North , so , keep your eyes on the calendar in case there are any changes . Before then , I will be in LA finishing up vocals on the first 5 tracks I did , and then start on some new ones . Hooray progress ! In the Studio.

As I write this , I am at the Studio in the Valley with the fabulous House Band getting ready to lay down basics for 5 new songs . Nate is checking his drums , and I'm sitting next to his genius little boy , Miles . Word to the wise : never challenge this six and a half year old to Mancala or you will be quietly destroyed . Here we go...

...please pardon my Oprah-ism , above... Well I'm rehearsing with the House Band tomorrow , doing some pre-production for the recording . I'm finally getting excited ! It has been awhile since I've recorded my own songs , in my own words , the way I want to . You all havebeen wanting it , patiently waiting for me to get on with the dang thing . No more excuses ... I am starting tomorrow morning . I'll keep you all updated on how things go . I had so much fun in Iceland . I hope they never get sick of me 'cause they are gonna see me ALOT in their country . Thank you Magni , Oli (King Olaf!) , Svali , FM and Icelandair , I can't wait to show you my Balls! See you in the Spring . On Sunday I got to see my old mansion mates , Magni , Dilana, Toby and Lukas . The RSSN show was in Worcester MA. (about 30 minutes from my Dad's house)and I got to see them all ...as well as The Panic Channel and even Mr.T.Lee . There was much laughing and hugging all night . Everybody brought much rock , each in their own unique way . I can't wait to see them again in Portland !What a great bunch of crazy , dirty , beauties .
