Even tho I've already been seeing back to school ads (DAMN YOU , TARGET!!) It's still summer to me . I've only just unpacked from being on tour for , basically 14 months . I'M HOME . IT'S SUMMER . I'M GONNA GET NEKKID AND SPILL BBQ SAUCE ALL OVER MYSELF , JUMP INTO A RIVER , BLASTING AC/DC FROM MY CRAPPY BOOMBOX , HOLDING TIGHT TO MY ICE COLD FREAKIN' BEER WHILE I PROCLAIM " HALLE-FRIKKIN'-LUJAH!!!!! GOOD MORNING!!

I am home and free from needing to get in the car again for a LONG time . My POOR BUTT!!! I love road trips and all , but I have surely had my fill for a spell . Now I'm home and gearing up for the Fall , and Cabaret. I'm nervous , but excited at the completely unique challenges this will pose . I'm used to seat of my pants , wild and spontaneous free form living and performing.... but now , I'm headed into a regimented , semi strict routine for the next couple of months . Discipline . Yikes . Usually , for me , discipline is the "D" in "B&D" .... but it's a whole new challenge here. I will update you all on my forays into the rehearsal process and the absolute comedy that will be me trying to dance . But right now , I'm going to happily unpack and put my things away with the calm that comes with knowing I won't have to pack again for a little while . Then I'm going to enjoy my Portland from the squishy seat of my bike . Ah!! BALLS FANS! Last day..

I'm waking up in my fancy pants suite in the Edmonton Hotel... I absolutely HAVE NOT slept enough..but I'm trying to be quiet so Davey can catch up on some ZZZs. I haven't been this tired in a long time . This tour has really tested me; no days off , lots of driving , dealing with some crazy fans...I got tackled on stage by one of em'...it's been very challenging to say the least . Now it's our last day on tour together. We play Calgary tonight and then Brian and Jammer fly home . Davey and I are hauling the rest of the way to PDX on the road . There's a bitter sweetness to today. This is our last excursion as a band for a long time , and I feel like I was a royal bitch for most of it. The exhaustion , stress and non stop work , on top of these last 14 months of nonstop travel and work caught up to me and I was a raw nerve , snapping at everyone and feeling sorry for myself. Lame . The last week or so it got a lot better , for sure... but I'm still apologizing to my Balls and my fans (if any of you got snapped at...) I love my band so much, they are my family ...not to mention BADASS PLAYERS. So here's one of my many apologies for my snotty behavior . I'm sorry guys. Once I get to Portland I gotta unpack , do laundry , see a friend or two , then drive down to Monterey to play with the Houseband at the 40th anniversary of the Monterey Pop Festival with The Doors and Big Brother and the Holding Co. Then I'm checking myself in and checking out for a few days to get my head and body back to normal somewhere in the hot dusty hills of SoCal (no ,it's not rehab.....just camping.. same thing though , sorta , only it doesn't cost skabillions of dollars and I won't be playing scrabble with Marc Jacobs ...though I KNOW I could kick his ASS at scrabble....) Anyway , my lovelies , I look forward to being my sweet crazy self again . I feel it's been awhile and I miss me . Thank you Canada for being such a gracious (and spacious) hostess . Manitoba Dreamin'

We're in Winnepeg Manitoba right now , I'm finally online with a minute or two to blog before we head off to Saskatoon Saskatchewan . Never been there , but dang it's fun to say ! It's our first day off in what seems like forever , I'm taking this moment to recap this blur of activity that has been Canada so far . Ontario was beautiful . I think we covered every inch of major highway in that province . We haven't seen any moose yet . We've been scanning the lakes, streams and woods along the highways for em' but have seen nary a single one .We had to buy a moose mascot ( a bobble head moose for the dash board ) We named him Night Danger , and are hoping he'll attract a real one .... not in the way most people driving through western Canada do ...crushing their cars and smashing through their windshields , but just chilling somewhere where we can see it . No moose , but we saw three black bears on the way to Thunder Bay . That was SO cool ! We were the stupid Americans who stopped on the freeway to get some shots of mama and baby bear while they tried to cross ( you always read about idiots like that getting mauled by bears because they pulled over to take pictures and offer it their leftover Subway )... luckily the bear ignored us , but we got some cool pictures . I got to jump into , (then get pushed into again...JAMMER) , Lake Superior . Icy cold , but when you've been in a hot stinky car for weeks and you haven't slept , AND you have a nine hour drive ahead of you....a giant icy lake will do you just right . The shows have been awesome ...though we are tired , we still can bring it every night . My voice has held up fairly well considering the marathon it has run so far...we have four in a row after this last day off/9 hour drive day , so we're in the home stretch! Thank you all who have come out and keep comin' out for your Balls! We have had a blast so far and look forward to coming back again . See you in Saskatoon , Regina , Edmonton and Calgary ... I'm so sorry Windsor! We had to cancel tomorrow (Monday) for a couple reasons , not the least of which is exhaustion . My voice is fine (THANK GOD!) but can't do eight 2 hour shows in a row like I used to . DANG! However , Lee's Palace in Toronto was amazing last night . What a fantastic crowd ! And today at the Grand Prix ...? Let's just say , if it could've gone wrong , it did ...from our inability to even get in at first (no passes) to the .."well , it could be worse...could be raining..." comment that was met with torrential rain and wrath of god type thunder and lightning . We somehow managed to laugh it off and make it through three songs in front of 100,000 people there , and about two million people around Canada . Luckily , the stage crew were sublime professionals . If you aren't in a band or a performer of some kind , it's challenging to explain how many little details go into something so seemingly simple as playing music . At a big outdoor event , it can look as easy as plugging your instruments and mic into some outlets and you just go and rock......no . Not so simple . It is usually a big cluster fuck , especially when said big outdoor event is not musically based , doubly especially when you're squishing through the rain , across a stage soaked in about a quarter inch of water , and there are electric cables snaking all around you and your very best friends and bandmates....terrifying . We were very lucky to have Justin (stage manager from the two HB gigs last week ) and a handfull of pros who made everything as painless and fluid as they could . Nobody died , and we made it through a long , stressful day , relatively unscathed . We are all resting tonight , watching a different storm entertain Toronto . WINDSOR CANCELLED!!

Sorry for the last minute bummer , but we are not going to be playing in Windsor this Monday due to health concerns . We HATE canceling gigs ...and , my fellow Americans , I know alot of you were planning to come across the border for it , WE WILL MAKE IT UP TO YOU . However , we had to sacrifice one gig in the interest of preserving fingers and throat holes for the rest of the tour ...(that sounded really bad....) two down....

15 to go ! I'm enjoying a day off after two fat shows with the House Band et al . What a great weekend! Saw some old fans , met some new ones .... got to hang with friends and rock a couple of big fields full of Canadian people ..(lightly sprinkled with Americans) . It was so much fun to play with the house band again ... what a monster bunch of players ...DAY-YUM!! We killed it ....Dilana , of course , kicked much ass as well ... she played her new song " Solid Gold " , which is a big sweeping rock anthem with a touch of middle eastern melody and pounding guitars . It shows off her massive voice better than any song I've heard from her so far . It's so funny if you've never seen her in person....I imagine it must be pretty stunning to hear this humongous voice come surging out of her itty bitty body . She's just awesome . And I never watched Rockstar INXS , Hell , I haven't even watched the show I was on..But , I must say , Susie , Ty and Marty are amazing performers , singers and people ....and darn sexy , too , if I may say so... I had a blast getting to hang with them . So now we're done with the shows , had our after party with much debauchery, vodka and hysterical laughter...I'm glad I don't have to sing until Wed... I'm a bid raspy today , to say the least . All the Americans are leaving today except for me . Ty is off to play NYC , Susie is finishing up her stint on "We Will Rock You" in Toronto , then start her tour to support her new record , and Marty is headed back into the studio to work on his next album , Lil D is headed back into the studio as well . Me ? I rest , relax , and wait patiently for my Balls to arrive . I talked to Davey this morning , and they were already in Fargo ND !! They drove all night and are now , officially 3/4 the way here ...and completely freaking delirious . I told them to stop and get some sleep but they're considering being. all badass and power through another night , getting here in the morning . Selfishly , I hope they do ..I MISS MY BALLS!!! Holy crap people ! I'm in Canada and I noticed that the WW gave me an "eh...not so much .." review of Ladylike . Yeah , it's kind of a bummer but JEEZ!!! The comments some of you are chucking at her are a bit much . I love that you're defending me , but not everyone's gonna like me or the record or my face or my fuckin sneakers or how I walk ... it's bound to happen .And it's FINE . My God , I'm totally ASKIN' for it by being in a very public business , by going on TV and by running around on stages screaming and shit . I thought the article was fine , she was mostly complimentary to my strengths , and was very articulate . I don't feel she attacked me at all . Wowsers , It's hard to pack for a month when you know you and all your stuff will be smooshed, not in a van , not in a bus , not on a plane....not even in a trailer...but a car (!) with you and your balls and all their stuff . Thank GOD I'm the only girl! What a great few shows we had , though ! I don't know where to begin thanking everyone for coming out , helping out and my amazing birthday roses and gift certificate ....you guys are the best fans EVER! Patty Daydream , Juggs , Steph , Oober , Laurie , Theresa , Paul , Power , Stink ... I know I'm forgetting some ...you know who you are , and I must thank you a ton for supporting my Balls and being so cool! So Canada , here we come ! A sweaty , cramped car full of Balls...rolling up to stretch ourselves out across your clean and lovely country , your stages... and your sons and daughters .
