HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

I'm finally home from saying farewell to my Grandmother . It was bittersweet , but awesome to be side by side with my big brothers , my Dad and all my cousins and extended family . One of the main reasons I adored Neeny is she not only created a big loving family , she infused us all with the importance of BEING a big , loving family . I was on a plane or two all Thanksgiving day , turkeyless , alone with my hand sanitizer and Vanity Fair for comfort ... but I was still humming with all the tears , hugs and love I had received and given over the last week of celebrating Neeny and her legacy . Then , landing in Portland last night , I got hugs from Davey and Case , and fed nummy leftovers from their Thanksgiving . Life is good and I am very thankful for every soul I've had the honor to love . Bless you all ... take care of eachother and I'll see you all out there. Voices For Silent Disasters

Thanks , everyone , for sending such love about my Neeny . Though the words are electronic , their spirit is still palpable . Thank you . Since I'm off to hang with my family on the east coast at this time ... I will be unable to perform at "Voices for Silent Disasters" this Thursday at the Baghdad in Portland . I hope you guys still plan on going ... the show will still rule (Liv Warfield!!! =sigh=) and it is an amazing cause . Not to mention the fact that this enormous event (40 shows all for Uganda) has been made possible, for the most part ,by a petite and gorgeous brunette named Stephanie Schneiderman ...from Dirty Martini . On Friday , my friend and costar , Wade McCullum , will be Hedwigging for the "Voices" series .... so please go out and rock this cause , alls you gotta do is enjoy some amazing performances . Neeny Cat

...Rare exotic goose . Sounds like gibberish from a nursery rhyme , but it was in fact , one of the nicknames of my 98 year old grandmother , Emily Norris Large . She also bore the name "Yanne" , " Old Thing" , "Fat Cat" or just "Neen" . Not once in my memory did anyone ever call her "Grandmother" , although that is exactly what she was ... the grandest of the dang grand . She was bossy , brassy , was never wrong and would tickle your back and arms until you were fast asleep . She would ball her fist at " Those damn woman drivers!!!" from behind the wheel of her LeBaron , and she could grow anything in dirt . She was a grand ol' mother alright ... took fierce care of us all and was always there when her little boy , by Dad , needed a hand with us ...(which was often.) She passed away this morning around 9:10 AM . Neeny Cat , Fat Cat , Rare Exotic Goose , has gone on to join her husband of 67 years , Henry W. Large , (aka , "Henri Gran" , "Niff ", "Baron" , "Sniffy Cakes" ) her son John and daughter Emily (aka "Bitsy" , "Tee-Hee" , "Geraldine" , "Boing" ) and she is survived by my Father , Henry W. Large Jr. (aka "Hank" , "Henny", "A-Noo-Noo" or just "Noo") and scores of family and friends who will always carry her in our hearts as a grand mother of all ... no matter what you called her . Christmas Balls

I am almost done with the Portland run of Cabaret . Afterwards it's holidays , family and ... yes , a Balls Christmas show . A glass of wine , some mistletoe , AND THE BALLS . We're hammering out the details now , we know it is at the Wonder Ballroom , mid December , and a portion of the ticket sales will go to charity . This is our first show since August and our last until possibly March ... I hope you can make it . More details to come when I've got em' . Please People

I have caught a bit of crap ( no surprise ) about a song I like , that happens to be about the death of Britney Spears. OH MY GOD . I don't want anything bad to happen to Ms. Spears . That is not why I posted the bulletin . You lot , of all people , should know better , seriously . The post was all about supporting a very young band who , in my opinion , have awesome pop sensibility . I like cheesy pop , easy pop , even if they have lyrics saying something like ... oh I dunno ... "I WANT YOU TO DIE" maybe ???? I am sick to death of people putting more energy into the trials of the famous than there own damn lives . I know that if Britney , Lindsey or Amy Winehouse were in any of our actual families ... or circle of close-ins ... you would do your damndest to help and or save them . God help their hungry little wasted souls ... but they have had their shot and most likely will get more opportunities if they can survive themselves . In the meantime , I will continue to support young artists that I think are talented . You don't have to like what I like .... I like brussels sprouts too , yes , BRUSSELS SPROUTS .... only one of the most HATED vegetables in the worlds flora ... whatever . I don't care . Let the world bitch about it , I will be listening to Nickel Arcade and munching on brussels sprouts and be just as happy as can be . Opening Night....

....and weekend . Firstly , you Ballzboarders are the craziest and most colorful and imaginative ... Stink , I know you were the hub for that crazy turnout . You're a magical gal ... many thanks . It was both heart warming and unnerving . I was SOOOOO nervous on opening night , and I know it showed . This is such a big challenge for me and I don't want to let the cast and crew down ... PCS took a big gamble casting me and I adore everyone there and want to rock this for them . You all were so sweet to me afterwards , but I know I will get better as the show runs ... you all saw a very scared , insecure woman under a lot of pressure on Friday night . Excuses aside ... it wasn't my best , but I know it will get better . I love you guys for being so supportive , thank you for being there , I only wish it was a better show for me . Now I have to go to my first matinee ... I have to be a coked up , temporarily pregnant club whore at 2 O'clock on a Sunday ...Hmmm . Dress Rehearsal

OK...I've never done this theater thing before ,so the whole, 'rehearse in front of an audience' deal is new to me . Sure you soundcheck in front of fans sometimes ... but that's different , your playing on gear that YOU know works , wearing something YOU picked out , nobody but you keeps the show going and everybody gets rocked . Last night was a nightmare for this type A control freak . I have two big numbers at the top of the show , both are absolutely dependent upon props and costumes and several other people being somewhere at the exact right moment . In other words ... the whole thing can go down in flames at any time , and , well .... last night was an exercise in " trial by fire " . Everyone knew it was a rehearsal , but , in my head , people are watching ... you gotta deliver . But I was so bloody distracted with " SHIT ! which side do I exit ?! SHIT! Where's wardrobe?! SHIT! My hat is fucked ! SHIT !My goddam dress is caught on something ! SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!! " That my performance was so terribly sub-par that once we were done , I wanted to go hide under a bed ... in Greece . Not to mention , the subject matter is so twisted , rough and dark ...essentially a bunch of fun loving , creative sexy people assist in the bloody massacre of millions of people by turning a drunk and bleary blind eye ...I was all kinds of messed up last night . GOD BLESS THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE I WORK WITH , THOUGH!! This hot and ridiculously talented cast is so patient with me , I want to rock this role just for them . The crew on this show are amazing as well ... I can't even begin to describe the unimaginably complicated details these folks have to keep track of second by second for a three hour show . Not once have I heard any of them complain , either . Opening night is this Friday , (the thought of which makes me feel the urgent need to go to the bathroom ...) but , for the sake of those who have busted their ass for this amazing play ,and continue to bust ass , I will hike up my bloomers, keep my seams straight and , hopefully , knock it out of the park for them . ....after I go to the bathroom. My goodness!!!!

So long it has been since I've said a dang thing..So sorry. I thought this theater thing would be a break from my hectic touring activities of the last year plus . If by "break" I meant twelve hour days , 6 days a week of singing , dancing and enjoying some serious dark emotional exploration on a woman who fucks for money/food/drugs/life's purpose , gets pregnant , and whose answer to the rise of the Third Reich is to get wasted and pretend it's not happening ... then , yeah . I guess I'm getting a break . HOLY FUCK ACTING IS HARD . I won't complain , because , I gotta say , I LOVE it . It is so wild to make art out of life experiences through the media of re-creating them as someone else ... a different human . I love it . It tickles my crazy bone . If you can , you should come ... not just for me , but for the great story, the ridiculously talented people I'm in this thing with , the wild choreography and dark and dirty crap that happens , (no one under 18 without guardian can see it ) . Dancing Queen! (....kinda)

Last Saturday was incredible. One of my favorite shows for a long time. Hometown, crazy crowd and NIKKI!! I had the sweet creamy voice of my good friend - The Black Swan herself - Nikki C, backing me up and just looking and sounding fierce. Love her! So as the Balls get tucked away for the Fall, I have started the process of becoming Ms. Sally Bowles. I'm brushing off a working class British accent and learning to dance. Amy, the choreographer's assistant, has been so incredibly cool, energetic and patient with me. I have learned (tho not mastered...not in the slightest) the Charleston. The basic step is fun and jaunty, and I got it pretty quickly. However, some of the embellishments we add on... well, let's just say I'm working on it, but I still slightly resemble a giraffe with boobs...and epilepsy. Like I said...I'm working on it. By the time you come see the show, I'll be Isadora freakin' Duncan...or at least NOT a large hoofed thing having a fit. SATURDAY

Firstly , HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADONNA!! Hey kids! I'm going out today to do my typical , pre-show whoring . Rick Emerson around 2pm...the Buzz tomorrow at 9 AM ..Newsletters , phonecalls ...meanwhile I start the Storm Beautification Project , that is typical show prep . Yeah , yeah , we rehearse and stuff , duh , but the SBP takes me about 36 hours to complete ... I mean each leg is three feet long and girthy, shaving em' takes at least a day ...it's like shaving a whole pony. Speaking of farm animals, I gotta get my hoofs detailed , and it takes some doing to find someone who won't run screaming from my size 12 Flinstone Flappers ... then I gotta scrub off a few layers of dermis with a horse brush and some sea salt ...sexy stuff I know . Then the horror of picking an outfit . I don't even want to think about it too much .... Being a girl takes quite a bit of doing when you gotta be all hot on stage .
